One Simple Way to Find Your Faith Again
How do I find FAITH when everything is falling apart?
I’ve been asked this question thousands of times.
It’s even a question I’ve asked myself.
When you’re in the middle of the darkness, it can be hard to see the light. The darkness looks different for everyone, and even changes depending on the season of life you find yourself in. Darkness can look like the grief of a loved one’s passing or the loneliness of divorce. Others may find themselves in the heat of anger after being wronged or the fear that follows a new diagnosis.
When my Mom was diagnosed with ALS and succumbed to her disease, I could not find my FAITH. As my baby lie on the brink of death, I struggled with FAITH. Seeing my dreams dashed against the rocks, FAITH was hard to find. In these blinding moments, it can be natural to forget all the ways that God has shown up for us before.
So today, if you find yourself struggling with FAITH, here’s what I want you to do.
Remember all the ways God has been faithful to you in the past. When has He saved you, brought you just the right person at just the right time, dug you out of a depression, or answered your prayers?
You may have to search for it. You may have to turn to stillness and call upon the Holy Spirit to find it, but gradually, you’ll begin to remember those moments when God was faithful to you in the darkness.
As you begin to recall each moment, WRITE THEM DOWN. Declare them loud and clear. Bring them out of the darkness into the light.
Let these proofs of His goodness be your light in the darkness.
Sometimes the struggle is intentional but through the most difficult times, we can find growth. There is a purpose for the pain you feel greater than anything you can imagine. I wrote about this very fact in my book This Changes Everything: When Death No Longer has the Final Say.
By recalling the times that God was faithful in the past, we can be strengthened to find faith in His plan in the present.
We are in this together,
